Effective Treatments to Remove Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are caused by the rapid increase in size and weight. They occur most commonly during pregnancy and rapid growth in teenage years. It is best to treat stretch marks in their early stages when they are still red and purple. They are harder to treat, when they are white. But although it can be hard to get rid of stretch marks completely, there are a few effective treatments to minimize or remove their appearance.

Treatments to remove stretch marks:

Natural Treatment:

Following natural remedies can be used for removing stretch marks at home.

Cocoa butter
For many years, people have used cocoa butter to decrease the appearance of stretch marks. Cocoa butter soaks into the upper layers of the skin, makes it possible to reach the second layer of the skin and repair damage caused by stretch marks.

Aloe Vera
Aloe vera can also help repair stretch marks. Try mixing aloe vera gel with a little olive oil and apply for stretch marks.

Coffee exfoliate
Create a gentle exfoliate by grinding coffee beans and mix them with a teaspoon of water. Rubbing the mixture to the affected area for a few minutes and then wiped away with a warm wash cloth. This helps exfoliate the dead skin cells and repair damage caused by stretch marks.

Top Creams for Stretch marks:

Tretinoin is a prescription cream such as Renova and Retin-A, which increases the production of collagen. These stretch mark creams works in early stages, when the marks are still red or pink in color. Tretinoin should not be used if pregnant or nursing. When you ask for the recipe, be sure to tell your doctor if you take other medicines as well as the other ways you try to get rid of your stretch marks.

Laser treatment is an effective but expensive way to remove or minimize the appearance of stretch marks, both new and old. There are several different types of laser treatments for stretch marks including pulsed dye laser, fractional laser and excimer laser treatments. Both pulsed dye and fractional laser treatment uses wavelengths of light to stimulate collagen growth. Fractional laser targets only stretch marks pulsed dye laser includes several matters, including "good" skin so recovery is a bit longer. Excimer Laser Treatment stimulates melanin production, so that stretch marks change to a similar color as the skin around it. This makes stretch marks less visible. Normally, you need several treatments to any Laser Treatment work to its full potential. Talk to your doctor about which laser treatment would be best for your specific stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion Treatment:

Microdermabrasion is a treatment done by a dermatologist and can work in both newer and older stretch marks. The dermatologist will use a hand-held device that blows crystals into the skin. The crystals then go to work by "carry away" on the top layer of skin. The physician then removes the top layers of the skin and the crystals with a small vacuum. This will encourage new skin growth with the correct amount of collagen, minimizing stretch marks.
